Anybody else's?

He is out 24/7 and we have had snow on the ground for 8 days now. I've left him out in the field as dont want to risk him slipping on the icy walk way down to the yard. He get's hay, feed and water twice a day in the filed but other than checking him over i've left him be. The last couple of days he just walks away while I top up his water and put out hay, and only comes back once i've gone. Managed to check if he was warm enough yesterday (hes naked) and he was funny about letting me touch him.

Crazy how 8 days of being left to his own devices has turned him feral! Ha ha.

Lots of inhand work to be done I think once the snow melts! xx

He's obviously quite happy and not needy of your intervention then.:D Actually, I think a bit of independence and a holiday is good for them sometimes. It allows them to take responsibilty back for looking after themselves and chills them out.

Iv left mine to it for a few weeks , I always do december / january time.
I hay them and feed the old pony twice a day, and apart from the odd groom theyre happy just larking around themselves :)

Mine's also been out and un-worked since last Sunday. He's not quite feral but bossier with the others than usual - he's guarding his pile of hay from the others and barging them out of way when someone off the estate brings carrots or apples - so no need to worry about him not eating. :-)

Am in the exact same position, not ridden for 2 months, not groomed or anything, just been checking, feeding water and hay. He is bolshy and a bored child ! Will be with you doing loads of in hand work before I even consider getting on him !! Living out 24/7 naked

Well I managed to catch him today. Gave him a full check, feet picked, weight taped and he was fine. He decided my poo pick and wheelbarrow were his toys and so "helped" me poo pick. Still a bit grumpy to be be fussed, but he got cuddles and scratched whether he liked it or not! xx
