Dexter went back to the vets this am. Stayed with him while they knocked him out but he fought it all the way. After an hour they wheeled him off on a trolley (he couldn't walk) with him looking back at Mum beseechingly!!

Vet has just rung and his leg looks perfect so no idea why he doesn't stand on it properly. They have taken the plate out and we'll see if that makes any difference. Fingers crossed.
Am picking him up at 5.30.

Thankyou Splotchy. He really doesn't deserve all this aggro so am hoping this will be the last of it for him. He will be soooo grumpy tonight!!

Fingers crossed for Dexter. Hope he is soon back on his feet (all 4 of them).
Many moons ago I had a JRT who had bad hips and had the femur head removed. Although it all went well she wouldn't put the weight on the operated leg. We ended up giving her loads of swimming (in the local canal) to build up the muscle in her leg, it did the job and she became sound. Are there any hydrotherapy pools locally you could take him to. I took my GSD to a place with a water treadmill, would imagine that would be good for Dexter if you could find one.

We are giving him 6 weeks to see if there is any improvement without the plates in and then hydrotherapy is the next option. I have just brought him home and he is very very wobbly and sleepy. Hubby and I have carried 46 kilos of sleepy rottie from the car and propped him up in a cool corner to sleep it off!!
