Ooh my mare did this the other week, i felt really sorry for her! I think she probably had a fly irritating or something and scratched on something sharp

My mare used to do that by scratching her bum.... I found sudocream worked wonders and helped it heal quickly

wipe it every day with baby wipes with aloe vera inriched in them and some light ointment nothing to strong or perfumed other wise that will be sore and itchy for her its a bit like our bits you need to keep th ph level right!
