My mare has been a little sore on her off fore for the past week or so. Farrier came out last week and said she has some bruising on her toe got no idea how she has done it as she wears natural balance shoes and bruising is under the front of the shoe! She has also got a bit of mud fever on same leg but not enough to make her lame (or so I thought!!!).
Went up yard yesterday to see her hopping around in field so brought her in were she threw a hissy fit so had to turn her out again. Got vet out today who checked her foot and got me to trot her up. She was hopping for 3 or 4 steps then just went slightly unlevel. He is'nt that worried about the bruising as farrier was'nt too fussed, vet seems to think its the mud fever!!.
So he left me with bute, big bottle of pink lotion and told me no turn out and to apply pink lotion and wrap with clingfilm then stable bandage and scub scabs off in morning then do the same next eve until skin looks clean and she doesnt try and eat me everytime I touch it.
You would think her leg is covered with mud fever the way she is. She has got two patches the size of 50p pence on each side
.
So now I am gonna have to pay someone to look after her over xmas as im going away
