I decided to take everything to keep pony cool for the 3 hours between tests with the addition that if he was unsettled I would withdraw from the second.

Warmed up well for the first test, went in and my caller started calling the wrong test

ignored her and carried on then the judge beeped and told me my caller was calling the wrong test.

I was pleased with him, first test on grass although he bucked through one of the canters - opps. I got 62% and came 7th so just outside the rossettes but was very pleased about 15 in the class.

then onto the second test (got a different caller!) was not sure what to expect as the horse before me had just come out of the medium

. He tried really hard and we managed to get an 8 for my turn about the forehand so very pleased and ended up on 64% and came 7th again (2 equall 5th!)

Our team came 5th so I did manage to get a rossette for his loerdship. The coments were really useful on the sheet as opossed to some BD sheets, like inside hand drawing back, use more sitting trot in trans and more inside leg for bends so feel I have loads to work on for me so pleased

.

Think I saw Nats_UK donig her test as I had to call at 3.45 but did not actually get to meet you then or at the prize giving - sorry

thanks for reading

My test went okay, got a 7 for my first turn about the forehand. Horse was just very tired (and also the most laid back thing I have ever ridden) so test was very flat and all my comments said "needs more energy!!"

Thanks,

You did really well considering it was a new horse

I am hopelessly burnt too as I had to wait around have to say there was plenty of room and seemed better than when we were at towerlands

Well done esp for your 8 on the turn about the forehand.

I'm doing that test this weekend, and have just noticed, no whips or spurs allowed so we're going to be DONKEY!!!

WOW - 8 for turn about the forehand, I managed 5 for both mine yesterday, they were more swivel about the middles. LOL. Were you doing a Lincoln qualifier?

Madhossy - Unless it's a championship your should be allowed to use a whip, just not spurs.

I did them at Lordsbridge for the Lincon Qualifier, unfortunitally I did not get the top 2 so did not qualify however I am very pleased with the turn about the forehand mark, in fact on both sheets I only got two 5's the rest were 6 and 7 so think I am going in the right direction. You can use a whip for the qualifier but not championships.

Also beware you can not use anything in the warm up that is not allowed in the test. Neck straps are only allowed for 6 or 7 spurs, boots etc are not allowed this caught a few out on saturday

I had an awful time with my Area Riding test. It was judge like a Dressage test and the comments where so negative. You must have been very good to get 8 for Turn About the Forehand. When I looked in the BRC Rule Book for the details on what the judge is looking for, they are so badly writen! I was no better off.

I am really sorry that you had a bad experience, I asure you I dont normally get that good a mark I am still in prelims. It is a shame that the BRC are a very dithery in the rule book. I would just put that down as one not to remeber,

hugs
