Hi all,
You may have noticed I wrote a thread a couple of months ago asking about solar lighting as the stables we are at currently do not have electric, so I asked if anyone had any solar lighting advice.
I went online and bought this http://www.powerbee.co.uk/sale/solar-ray-48-superbright-led-solar-shed-light-ch-pir-9.html . It was on sale at a very reasonable price of £17 I think, so I thought it was worth a try and at £17 I wasnt going to be bankrupt if it didnt work like I wanted it to!
Anyhow, me and my friend went down to HOY's in the horse wagon and stayed all week in the wagon instead of a hotel, only thing was, we didn't want to drain the battery by having the lights on at night, so decided to take the solar light as a test
Left the solar panel on the front window where it could get the most light and hung the light up in the living area.
When coming back at night, the light was very very bright and we didnt have to even switch on one light as it was brighter than the wagons light. We even managed to cook steak and veg, have pudding, chat all night and drink whiskey and wine with friends over the 4 nights! Excellent!!
Now I have put it up in my stable, The bracket was a doddle to fix to the outside of the stable. and I had enough wire from the panel to the main beam in my stable so that I could connect to the wall and keep it tight so ned cannot get his teeth around it
The only issue I have with this light is that it is a peroximty light, so in the night when Im leaving the yard I have to turn it off otherwise ned would keep it on all night, but it still charges up even when light unit is switched off. So not a massive issue really.
And you shouldnt put it up in the dark with your non DIY dad and using a upturned bucket to put the staples and nails in
Im so pleased with this Ive reccomended it to all my horses friends and Ive ordered another one to go on my otherside of the stable.
Its very very very bright!!!
Enjoy
