Rode Orkan today after 3 weeks off and he was lovely, seemed like I'd never been off him (long story had him 5 weeks but he seemed cold backed initially so I his back checked and he needed some physio treatments and rest, saddle check etc but hopefully we are nearly sorted now).
Problem really only lies with me - he is very very experienced and me well I'm used to riding natives for the last ten years or so. I find his paces quite big and obviously I haven't had much riding on him with all the back issues. I find when I go up into trot, he quickly comes above the bit and sticks his head right up or shakes his head up and down getting faster or trots on the front then canters behind which unbalances me. I originally thought this was due to his back pain but now things are nearly sorted he is still doing it. My eventer friend has been helping me with him before he had the time off and he attempted it with her but she quickly got him back on track.
Feeling like a bit of a numpty, going to book a lesson this week but I was wondering whether there was anything I could do schooling wise to help the situation? I want to do a intro test in Dec so I need to get a rocket up myself and improve!
