For my first 100% mine horse!

The horse I had been grooming for was pretty much withdrawn from sale, and I have been desperate to find something to give my time and attention to. Well after a lot of searching and looking at a few unsightly equine specimens, I decided to up my budget a bit. Then I heard a local stud was having a bit of a clearout so off I went. I found a cracking 2yo Registered Irish Draught gelding. I think he is going to be a very nice chap to have around - and hopefully not be too difficult when I'm breaking him in! The idea is he will be a nice allrounder for keeps. His sire and both grandsires were grade A so I'm sure he will have a bit of a pop!

So everyone meet Finlay! Here he is last summer, I will get more pics when he moves in next weekend.

Thanks!

I love and appreciate all the family horses, and then I got the ride on a horse who was very special to me. But all the time I wished it was just me making the decisions - it would be so much simpler! I will keep you all updated with our progress. OH says I should do a blog.

I don't know Welcome Flagmount. Is your boy registered? What do you plan to do with him? WE want lots of piccies.

I have an Irish Draught too!

Congratulations!

Thanks, yes he is registered and I hope to get him out to a couple of in-hand shows this summer and next summer. Only problem is he is Irish born and bred, so I think I may have to get his passport overstamped to be eligible for the breed shows over here. Failing that he'll be shown in hunter classes.

His sire is by Flagmount King who was a son of King of Diamonds.

I am terribly cross about the lack of pictures. OH has lost our camera charger.

wow - he is gorg - and 100% all yours to spoil and do what you like with :0)
Lots of luck...he looks lovely and I love his name too...!!
If you need any advice with breaking him in I broke my old pony in and she became a good alrounder too...I based most of the training on just lots of groundwork and handling...she loved her cuddles...
well done you...bet you cant stop jumping with excitement ;0)

Lucky you, he looks lovely. I love IDs so would be interested in more info such as Sire, Dam etc. I've got an ID mare and she's a little star.

Look forward to seeing more piccies when you get him home.
