She's not sure whether she is or not but she's only been at the yard for less than 11 months. She was in a field for a short period of time with a little stallion and her behaviour has changed in the last two weeks. She has bolted and bucked when ridden. She has always been well behaved and a relatively lazy pony that you could call safe for the kids. She is a good doer but she has not been fed anything except haylage over the winter period because they had a break from work and were turned away for a while. Most of the other horses have lost a little weight over the winter but my sister thinks she is still looking slightly - if not more - tubby.
Had the vet out today at the yard and asked her to have a wee look and see what she thinks. She looked at her back and had her walk and trot up and can't see any problems there. The mare also had her teeth done today. The vet doesn't want to make a guess as to whether or not she is pregnant but she thinks it is possible that she could be but to be sure she'd have to do a blood test.

The question my sister would like to ask is, could this change in behaviour be signs of late on pregnancy?
Also hypothetically what effect could it have on the foal and mare if she is pregnant and we didn't know as she has been worked as per usual over the recent weeks?

I have suggested it may be her saddle, feet or just a new trick that she's learnt to get a rider off and get out of work (this is what has happened the last few times she was ridden ) but big sis has a "gut feeling" that she is carrying a little foal.

How long ago was she running with the stallion?

She could have been in a field with stallions before she came to us, we are not sure of her previous history.

Sorry to be rude but if your sister did not want a foal why was she letting a mare run with a stallion? Seems counter intuitive to me...

Little stallion got into the field somehow. It was definately not intentional!:D
Think she would love a foal but we would have no idea about stuff like this but I know you need certain special facilities, extra cash in the bank, experience and everything else that goes with foalies so obviously I'm hoping that she is just being a worrier, which she is - sorry sis! :D

P.s she has not shown signs of being in season

Have a look to see if they're any difference in udder , depending on or if ,she was covered and is late on in pregnancy there should be changes to udder , any chance posting pics it might help ,the only way really around it tho is blood test or a examination !!
