I was playing with Whizz my sprocker this morning and all of a sudden she stopped and held her front leg up and out at right angles to her body. She wouldnt move and was obviously in pain.
This happened once at XMas on icey ground but she got better within 10 minutes.
I picked her up and took her indoors where she sat with her head hanging unable to move and i rang the vet and made an appointment.
2 and half hours later with her still on three legs and not moving we set off to the vets.
She gingerly hobbled into the surgery with everyone in the waiting room saying ahhhh poor thing.
The vet examined her and couldnt get any reaction but said she probably had twisted it suddenly when playing. She gave her a painkiller injection and said just let her rest for today.
I put her on the floor and would you believe it, she walked out as if there was never anything wrong with her!
The people in the waiting room couldnt believe their eyes so now think the vet has healing hands.!!
The vet did say to me that cockers are one of the worst dogs for being ill cos they always are convinced they are dieing!
She came home and instantly jumped onto the sofa as if to say 'what is all the fuss about?'
If it happens again i think i will leave her up the garden sitting there with her paw in the air

My old cocker bitch was the same

- she had 'hurt' her paw/leg somewhere so had spent a few days being a drama queen being carried around, lifted up and down things. We were in the sitting room when the front door went and she took off at warp speed

- halfway down the hall she stopped and looked over her shoulder saw I was watching and then started limping again

Mmmm... Know what you mean. The Princessley One tonight suddenly decided she was terrribly lame and refused to come off the grass verge. Being the dutiful mummy I picked the offending paw up to check for cuts, thorns etc. only to find a very small piece of tape stuck to her fur, removed said tape and off she went - through bushes, mud, streams, thickets......
