Dear Harry (Parcside Harper)

Bred by my grandmother, out of her palamino pony, that was to 'hot' for anyone to ride by a palamino sire that was so evil it was PTS cos no one could handle it... out came my horse of a life time, liver chestnut Harry, born on my mums birthday...
When i was 11 and he was 4 we started our partnership with him bucking me off several times.. As a 5 yr old we spent most the time hunting and doing pony club...
Then as a 6yr old things really started to happen (me aged 13).... First off we're asked onto the PC Area horse trials team, which was held round the BE Novice track at Powderham, which we fly round, but are deemed to young to be on the team to go to the championships... Next up we have a go at a WHP class, which also happens to be a qualifier for the HOYS which we win and qualify.. this starts off the WHP thing.. we go on the qualify for the HOYS in '95 '96 '97 and '98, the RIHS in '96 '97 and '98 (winning in '98) and the England Team in '97 and '98... He also did pretty well BSJA and i won a big JC/JA handicap on him, beating some good JA ponies...
He really is my horse of a life time, he started me off to the life i lead now!!
After we sold him (we used the money from him to buy the lorry we have now) we have kept in touch with the familys he has been with since (only 2 more)...
We were rung with the bad news last night that he went down in the lorry after a really good training session (in prep. for traveling from Yorkshire where he lives now to Hartpury for a big qualifier) and has broken his knee

Am told that he is in plaster right now.. he obviously cant walk or lie down or anything like that.. the vets say that if he recovers the best they can hope for is for him to be a hack/little dressage.. so as yet no one has decided if they should have him PTS or not!!

Sorry if this makes no sense, am in floods of tears even thinking about it.. (so can't see what im typing).

If he has to be PTS then so be it, he has had a FAB life, being treated like the king that he is all along!!

My thoughts are with you Harry

Oh what a sad post..
I do hope he makes it through and has a nice retirement, he certainly does sound such a special pony.
Looks like I'll get to see you at B and W,not long now.
Keep us updated re his progress won't you? Fingers' crossed.

I'm nearly in tears reading this as my first horse broke her knee in a freak accident, sadly too bad even to consider plaster cast etc. Sounds like your boy isn't so bad as that so I really hope he pulls through. He certainly sounds like he has the zest for life needed to help him and WOW what a time you had together, so many fantastic memories.

Now I'm all weepy for you - trying to hide it as I'm at work! Big hugs for you and all concerned - I'm sure he has the strength and spirit to pull through. Lots of healing vibes for Harry
