my very brave new boy

My new boy arrived last week and we went our first hack last night. He led the others straight off the yard and was foot perfect the whole way, despite dogs barking / kids running / horseboxes squeezing past us etc so when my friend needed a confidence giver to accompany her in her first hack in years (following a bad accident) we volunteered and went out with them tonight. I'm just so proud of him - second hack and he was so brave! My life flashed before me when a lamb jumped out of the hedge beside us suddenly (my old boy would have been back at the yard before I'd even clocked the scary thing, god rest his scardy big soul) but new boy led us right past, even putting his nose down and ushering the lamb back through the hedge!

Thanks for reading my pointless post, just very chuffed for my friend and her big horse getting back out there and delighted with my new lad and his brave pants!

Thanks DD after so long being the one who needed to be 'buddied' it was really nice to get the chance to repay the favour. Said friend was also a star giving me lessons when I was struggling with my old boy so I really owed her one

Ha ha - in more ways than one Pearlsasinger! He's a bit of a pick pocket and managed to swallow a sapphire at his previous home which has never reappeared. So worth his weight in gem stones more like it! And thanks Tiffany, I've definitely lucked out after going horse shopping with the scientific criteria of 'kind eyes' at the top of my list
