Have absolutely no intentions of selling my little cob Twirl but am curious to see how much you guys think he might be worth if i were to put him on the market.

Twirlie is a 14.2hh 8 year old irish cob, that we've owned for 2 1/2 years. Over this time he has done local showing, unaff dressage, showjumping, and completed a local ODE where he would have been 4th if numpty here hadn't missed the smallest fence on the course out!!

Twirl is a perfect gent to compete and always take care of you. Dressage wise he has done a few walk and trot tests and Prelim standard dressage gaining scores in the mid 60's. Twirlie has a lovely honest jump and never looks at a fence. He is lovely to school and excellent to hack alone/company. He is 100% to clip, shoe, box and catch and is very good in traffic.

Throughout our time with him he has had no health/lameness issues and is a good doer. He is a genuinely lovely person to be around and the ultimate family friend.

I would agree, 5-6K if he is capable of jumping nice DC's at 90cm level, affiliated or unaffiliated. Presumeably a child could ride him?

He sounds lovely. I would say £3-4.5k, depending on whether he has been placed in all the disciplines you mention, what height he has been jumping and also whereabouts in the country you are.

Cobs seem to be the only types fethching much money at the moment from what i have heard, have been amazed at the sort of prices they have been fetching. To put an accurate value on would need to know the sort of heights he is jumping, and as has already been said above get a few points/pounds on the card affiliated and your boy could be worth a great deal more.

Mmmmm! Lovely coblet! Really nice quality cobs like this are so hard to find, and everybody seems to want them.

I'd have thought you could ask quite a lot - up to maybe £5000 anyway - especially if you could affiliate and get him a few points.

Super pony - I can see why you wouldn't want to sell him!

Thanks for your comments everyone, he really is a little star and is as honest as the day is long. Im pleasantly suprised by the values you have written down as i always think HHO'ers give a more realistic idea on horse values than some of the many adverts you see around. He has been ridden by both youngsters and novices and always adapts to suit his rider. Since buying him as a very green 6 year old for my novicey sister, i have concentrated more on his flatwork and he is now established in his simple changes and basic lateral work. His jumping is a little less established and therefore i haven't jumped over anything bigger than say 75cm but he has always been bold and tidy over anything i have put him at. Im sure that he would have the scope to jump bigger courses and i intend to do more with him this spring and take him off to HT and SJ competitions. Thanks once again though peeps much appreciated!!
