My vet is going to love me!

I think I am fast going to be paying for my vets next holiday abroad!

We have old Ridgeback Lola who is at the vets every week, and we have now discovered two larg lumps on our Weimaraners sheath. OH didn't tell me about them (he has been seeing to the outside dogs for the last few days) but thought he had better show them to me as they had grown. Well bugger me, they are huge, one each side of his sheath and egg sized.

I have the horse vet out tomorrow night after work so will have to take Cass to the vets on Friday, but in the meantime has anyone any experience of lumps/tumours on the sheath in dogs?
 
Might be something icky in there, cut, infection, might need cleaned out.

Although my dog, who does not have a whole sheath, when his bits are 'away' looks exactly as you have described - and if he is being poked at down there he is more likely to 'hide' himself and it will therefore look worse - are the lumps on the outside or the inside?

Is he neutered?
 
They don't seem to be infected, not red or warm at all, under the skin and skin clean unmarked. The lumps are hard although I couldn't inspect too closely as Casper wasn't keen on me poking about down there :)

He isn't nuetered as he was previously a stud dog.
 
Honestly it just sounds as if he has his bits tucked away, but no harm in checking with the vet. Although if it is anything untoward/more serious it might be worth letting people who own any of his progeny know, for future reference. Would want the OH to be a bit more on the ball in future too, pardon the pun!!! just in case something is awry.
 
Talisker (male castrated lurcher) got that too, gave me a bit of a fright the first time but it was just him :) Quirky little soul that he was :D
 
Yea it's their 'knot'...excuse the graphic nature of what I am about to say...but it's a bit like a man having a semi! :p :o :D
 
OH is useless when it comes to the dogs really! I normally spend time with them every day but have been rather waylaid with Ellie (see the rather large thread in NL!!!) during the last few days so OH has been sorting the dogs out.

I will have another look and a poke about tomorrow, but Cass is 8 years old and I have never seen these lumps. I know what you mean about the lumps they get on occasion but these are different.

I'll take him along to the vets on Friday when I take Lola and let him have a look.
 
Both of mIne have it, scared me the first time i saw it - it's only apparent to me first thing in the morning when they stretch and when it's warm. Looks like an extra set of testicles under the skin if you can imagine that.

Apparently not uncommon but seen more in thin skinned dogs - in Weims would be quite noticable. Sure it's fine :)
