my youngster has sore sheath - sarcoids?

Noticed today that my 3yo has a sore sheath. It is grey in colour and swollen with tiny pin pricks of blood. He won't let me even touch it. Worried it is a massive sarcoid. Would a sarcoid be sore to the touch? Vet coming tomorrow. Poor baby.
 
I don't believe that sarcoids cause pain. Hmmm Im pretty sure they don't anyway

Just out of interest, what colour is he?

I have a cream pony so his sheath skin is pink, he often has pin pricks of blood on him. Think he gets bitten alot, in the summer I cover him with cream but don't normally bother in the winter, but as its so mild I think there are more insects about all year. Skin all round the end is thickened and a bit scaley too.
 
sarcoids look like warts, various shapes or sizes,
sounds like He may have been bitten by something, or have a minor infection

He is a iron grey and his sheath is black. I think it is probably midge bites but am so paranoid about sarcoids as he does have a suspected one on his chest. Will see what vet says today. Thanks everyone. xx
 
all 4 of my boys are being munched by midges right now. Their sheaths and ears were covered in pin pricks of blood- put on fly cream and its all settled after a couple of days. Suducream is good or dermoline sweat itch lotion as its a clear oil which doesnt evapourate.
 
Vet came and sedated him. (Said he was a cheap date coz he promptly fell asleep for ages!) There were no lumps or bumps and no discharge so a course of bute and anti biotics should do the trick. She also said about the suducream as his sheath was very dry but it is so sore at the moment he won't let me put it on. The sarcoid looking mass on his chest could be a wart, time will tell. xx
