My youngsters first hunt...

Took my 4yr old Welsh Cob to his first hunt yesterday and he was really good and I think he quite enjoyed it. The only thing that was quite annoying and soooo tiring was him snatching badly at the reins & it was worse cos it was downhill and very steep. I almost went over the top, it wasn't pleasant and it's kind of putting me off going again. I gave him his head when I could & on the way home, he was on the buckle.
Any tips on what I could do to prevent this? I'm aching today

Could you try a waterford?

Mine did exactly the same last week. He was even doing it when hacking, so I've put a standing martingale on him and he has gone alot better.
Even if he decides to snatch he won't rip my arms to bits.

I'll have to try something as my shoulders are in agony today.
It's the thought of being pulled downhill ...oh the joys! 😬
