It's only a local show.

I'm going to enter her in 'Youngstock 1, 2 & 3 year old'

Can I get away without plaiting her? (she is the chestnut one in my sig?)

If I have to plait, will it be alright just to do the mane only?

I won't have to trim anything will I? (eg whiskers)

I always plait the mane, forelock AND tail of my yearling. She has her face and legs clipped out, but I leave her whiskers (Because other youngstock has those left - the older horses have them all off).

She wears a simple inhand bridle, currently bitless.

You should plait if your horse is the type that should be plaited! ie not M&M
I trimmed my girlies tiny amount of feathers (about 12 hairs lol) I leave whiskers!
I also plait their tails as think it looks smarter. Also a few judges have commented that mine have been beautifully turned out which has helped them do well each time I have taken them out

ok i will atempt to plait the tail! I can do french plaits but it always ends up loose at the top! hers is quite short at the top where she used to rub it

but ill go armed with hairspray lol

You don't have to plait youngsters tails, especially if like me you are not very good. A pulled tail is much nicer, you need to or it is advisable to trim heels and smarten whiskers. Odd plaits in mane then the forelock makes it even. Good luck let us know how you get on.
