Hi
I am looking at Myler bits for Will, I need something to take pressure off his tongue, but am a little confused over whether i need narrow port, medium port so on and so forth.
Question is, as they all seem to do what i think i need, if i bought one and it's not quite right will i damage his mouth?
Have always used bog standard bits and find myler a tad confusing

All myler bits provide tongue relief as standard.

You need to look at your horses mouth to decide which one will suit. If the have a very fat tongue or lack of space a higher wider port will maximise the relief.

Narrow ports only relieve a small section of the tongue, and the high narrow ports are ideal for horses that put their tongue over the bit.

If you don't have a major problem and are say swapping from a single joint / french link the low port comfort snaffle mouthpeice is probably the best place to start.

Quite hard to damage a horse with mylers - every single one is vastly kinder and better designed than a single joint snaffle.

Hi, I use the myler 04, low ported comfort snaffle and my horse goes well in it as she is warmblood and has a thicker tongue. It may be called the low ported snaffle but it gives more room than the loose ring french links. I have the loose ring french link that I also use as I swap them about every so often.

If it is ony tounge relief you are after why not go for a simple half moon snaffle. Either with eggbut cheeks or loose ring if you need more play. Unlike a jointed bit this is mild and moth horses like it.

I brought the high wide ported myler comfort snaffle a few weeks ago, so it has hardly any tongue pressure and its fantastic. Both the horses i ride in it love it as they stopped leaning and fighting the contact.
