Myler comfort snaffle fitting

I have borrowed a Myler rip off to see if Fell pony likes it. It's a 5 1/4 which is what he is generally but it looks a bit big in that there's a small amount showing either side of mouth but not the elbow of the bit. I've seen one site that says thats how the fit and another that says it should be snug. Its a D ring if that makes any odds-first time with one of these new fangled bits
Any advice appreciated.

I find genuine myler sizes frustrating. Are big but not always a whole size too big!

Should fit snug as shaped, I usually go down 1/4 to 1/2 and inch

thanks leflynn. annoying but hoping the D rings are a bit smaller on the 5 inch if I decide to get one-problem of riding a pony with a big mouth, at 5+ inches the bit rings generally go stupid big, will try and hire first.

I will try and see again tonight, I was pushed for time last night. He really isnt a 5" in any other bit I've tried him in, even the kimblewick and pelham are 5.25/5.5

I have a copy myler from ebay that has smaller rings on it as my boy is only cob size bridle (15.1 dinky tb)
