I just wondered if this bit has a similar action to a French link or (in my ideal world!) to the dynamic sprenger loose ring snaffle

This is the myler

Thanks!

Yes it is supposed to be similar but more accepting to the horse. I actually have both. I found the myler too thin for my horses mouth so she didnt fully accept it where as the sprenger is chunkier, it very much depends on the size of your horses mouth, tongue etc.

Interesting...would love to get the spregner, but can't really afford £90 odd so thinking the myler might be a cheaper alternative...though I really wanted the bit to be made of a different material...

as a halfway house, if you would rather not pay sprenger prices, consider neue schule? Perhaps the trans or team up?

Out of all of them the Neue Schule one is my favourite but it does depend on your horse, any schooling problems etc. My horse was very strong but i wanted to do dressage with her so i percervered with a snaffle. She was much better in the Nuele Schule then any of them. What size are you looking for as i am selling my myler and KK Sprenger. They are 5 3/4

have you looked at other makes? sprenger 'copies' on here for example:
http://cotswoldsport.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=65_66 for example?

the myler bit you have pictured has limited (ie can't go all way into itself) inwards movement - they do a barrel version too that has no inwards movement - more like a mullen - eldonian do a barrel that is similar to the myler mullen ;) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Eldonian-Curved-Mouth-Eggbutt-Barrel-Copper-Bit-6-/230472738804

worth lokoing about as many places do do v similar bits nowdays so you don't have to spend a fortune ;)

Interesting...unfortunatly one of the problems I am finding is that despite being 16.1 her mouth is only 4 3/4 / 5 inches!
The main problem is that she constantly leans on me-I know this is mainly schooling, but I don't think the bit she's in now is helping so I'd like to get her into softer. I am considering a NS one, just not sure which one....

i had a myler on trial from a friend as her horse was on box rest, the same as the one you pictured and taz went amazingly in it none of the leaning like he usually does, unfortunately had to give it back last week so is waiting for derby house to send my one out hopefully a few more days and i'll get it

I have the Neue Schule one and I wholeheartedly recommend it :) I use it on my TB mare.

Its quite a thin bit, somebody once told me the fleshier the tongue, the thinner the bit!

You'll get more independant side movement with the Myler and a slightly different pressure across the tongue as you would with the NS or the sprenger.

Myler do do a FL type.

Some horses don't get on with the mylers, so do.

Sorry what's FL? (my bit knowledge/understanding is hugely limited!)
