Does anyone have any info on how 'harsh' this bit is please, with eggbutt cheeks. I've always thought it was a reasonably soft bit but I just want to check!

Hi there,
I use this one on my mare and I don't think it is harsh, perhaps 'firm' would be a better description iyswim? I put her in it as she has very little room for a bit (fleshy tongue and low palatte) so it is comfy for her, and the independant side movement helped loads when we really struggled with steering and leaning. That said, she hasn't always been very forward going, so now we are on the home straight with our basic schooling I am going to put her back in a neue schule tranz with eggbut cheeks as I think the myler has served its purpose and I always prefer to have her in the 'least' sort of bit I can get away with. She isn't strong, if she was then I would prop keep her in the myler as it suits her very well, but to help her feel more comfy going forwards I am going to take a step down in bit.

It's not a harsh bit, unless the rider has awful hands!
