Can horses lean on Myler snaffles, or are they surposed to discourage this?

If they can, what is the best (dressage legal) bit for horses who lean?

I used a waterford for an ex driving horse that used to lean and it worked really well. Also, cherry roller should do the trick. I would think it would depend on the type of Myler that you use but in general I wouldn't say they particularly discourage leaning (I ride my horse in one).

Nothing dressage legal is going to stop a horse leaning, I'm afraid it's down to schooling.

A few people at my yard used a myler on a leaner, but it only worked for a couple of weeks, then they went back to leaning on it.
They're using hanging cheek snaffles at the moment (with harbridge for schooling), but the horses still look very heavy to me.

I use a loose-ring snaffle with Chloe, but only actually use it for competitions, and I do all her schooling in the waterford.

I have been working on a leaning problem (lack of self carriage) for some time with my instructor, however she can still take a hold through transitions which frustrates the life out of me. She is in a neue shule tranz link bit at the moment and I also wondered if the a loose ring myler would help because of the independent action. If nothing else it might confused her for a bit.

Its not a grave problem and she usually does well competing (71% in our nov on tues) but it is the one thing that is picked up on and sometimes she is worse and my scores dip quite considerably.

I ordered one this morning and will let you know how it goes.

Same here with the Myler, worked for a couple of weeks then back to leaning. My horse is a youngster so schooling will hopefully cure the problem. Back in a good old loose ring snaffle and much better,
