For illustrative purposes, this is the myler...

And this is the mikmar...

Now, in the blurb it appears they do a similar job; pressure is applied to the nose, mouth, chin and poll areas making them more humane. The myler would appear to be less 'rigid' and is also less 'scary-looking' (excuse the technical jargon

)
Sooo, what ARE the differences, apart from £50+?

Also, being a bit of a bit fetishist (not really!) I was wondering whether the myler would suit a horse that has a 'changeable' mouth. She can be strong, light or fidgetty depending on how fresh she is/ how cold the day is/ and any other number of variables!!

Thanks

The mikmar has an independant nose bit- you can use just the nose or just the mouthpiese or both. With the myler it's all bundled into one.
Personally I dont like the action on the mikmar.
Have found several horses that go well in the myler combi

I remember reading somewhere that the mikmar suits horses that are soft in the mouth & don't like a lot of tongue pressure as the mouth piece has a large surface area, which spreads the pressure. I have no idea how this compares to the myler though....

Having used both I prefer the Mikmar - there's more options as to rein settings/combos and horses just seemed to respond better
