hi, i was wondering if anyone knew what this lump could be on my 7 year old, Connemara geldings leg? i noticed it a few months ago and have been meaning to get it checked by vet, it started quite small and has gradually gotten more raised and even started peeling at one point. now it looks like this. it has a sort of dark patch surrounding it. there is a few other 2p-sized patches on other parts of his body with a sort of raised little lump in the middle. any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!! thanks so much :)

thank you, i don’t know anything about sarcoids; is it easy for a vet to remove them? are they serious?
Your vet will be able to advise.
There are 3 main treatments from vets; laser, removal under local anaesthetic or a specially prepared cream (known by most as Liverpool cream, each tub is made up to suit each particular sarcoid). Each treatment is specific to each type of sarcoid, there are 7 types in all.
At least it's in a place where tack and rugs etc wont rub.

Another treatment is strengthening the immune system with supplements such as radiance gold- have a google, really good results and non invasive :)

Sarc ex and good mineral balancer seemed to work for mine and they dropped off after 6 weeks. The problem with sarcoids is they do do that sometimes so its hard to say for certain that x y or z actually had any effect. I'm pretty sure the sarc ex and improved diet did at least help though.

I'd also advise not messing with it, just leave it alone until your vet has seen it and given advice. There's lots of threads on the internet about alternative treatments but IMO they are best avoided. Sarcoids can be a big problem or they can be nothing too much to worry about but sometimes messing with them can make them more problematic. fwiw I've had one removed surgically, pretty quick procedure and it never came back, I've had occult sarcoids just disappear (I did feed turmeric but have no idea if it helped but I do think a stressed horse can be more susceptible) and I had a nodular one on a mare's midline, literally popped by the vet, so my experience has been pretty positive.

Sarcoid.

my girl had one exactly here and never caused her any issues. only got it removed after 5 years of having her because of another one that went bad and just got both removed at the same time.
