Hello, I wondered if anyone had any advice on my situation. My horse has gone lame for about week and half now I have given her stable and field rest and box rest. The box rest made her worse so now put her in a field on her own small paddock of night as vet suggested. Vets advised her front left was a bit inflamed just under her hocks, my horse has no reaction to pressure or pain. She’s already been rested week and bit, they advised to rest another two weeks given me some bute for her. Anyone had anything similar no idea what it is, vet gave me no indication of what could possibly be just rest although she’s already been doing this and no better! Thinking rest her another week and if no better get her xray cause it hasn’t got better yet and have no idea what could be and had nothing useful from vet? Does anyone have any idea?

Thank you

All the lameness investigations I have had done where there's nothing obvious have started with nerve blocks to determine the location of the lameness then followed up with targeted xrays or ultrasound.

I wouldnt x ray anything without a positive nerve block first, if the horse is still presenting lame that is.

Any heat or digital pulse in the feet? I have seen a few abscesses in the last few weeks

Not an abscess no heat or swelling vet said she can notice a tiny bit inflammation but wouldn’t be noticable to us but the vet could tell

My friends horse took cellulitis with no other or previous injury. Just appeared. I would get an xray anyway.
Has the hoof been checked? Any injury that could have let infection in?

Have you been cold hosing for the swelling?
What’s that? And no infection or anything like that no injury prior haven’t cold hosed because there’s no swelling to what I can see only a slight inflammation the vet said

Yeh I think this might be what to do if doesn’t get better in a week, can I ask how much they charge for this?

You need to ask your vet for prices for various things. It all depends how many blocks they need and then what else is needed, a few hundred at least. Soft tissue injuries can take months to heal properly so it's best to get a diagnosis, at least you know what you're dealing with.
