After being away for 5 days I returned to find my 12yr old 16.2 KWPN gelding with a swelling simular in place of a windgall on his left foreleg, he had been turned out all day and in at night for the time i was away and it had gone unnoticed so I can not pin point a cause. He trotted up sound and shows no problem with it. However, I dont believe it is a windgall, it is also slightly swollen following the superficial digital flexor tendon in the pastern. The vet said she thought it was just a swelling of the tendon shealth. This has remained swollen for nearly 2 months with occassional decrease in swelling but then it returns. I have not worked him at all decrease. I have tried box rest, all day turn out, hosing, bandaging, hot/ cold treatment, magnetic boots, walking him out in hand and the only thing that has made a difference is when he came in with a small cut on his knee, the next day the swelling was gone completely for 2 days only to return again! Also sometimes the swelling is soft and fluidy and other times it is hard espcially if ive just taken him on a short walk... Any help would be greatly appriciated!!
Many Thanks
