Hey. I have recently bought a new pony and he has developed numerous hard lumps (about the size of half a pea) on his shoulder. I thought they may be fly bites but he has been wearing a fly rug for 5 weeks and they don't seem to be disappearing. He didn't seem to have them when i first bought him home and he isn't on hard feed so any ideas what they could be? C x

hunni i feel ur pain lol ,
my mare came out with these weird lumps, at first we all thought of fly bites and then a allergic reaction, so i stoped spraying her with any lotions and postions. the lumps did'nt go...? now an agen some wud go but then more would cum back..?
then i though sweat/heat rash so once a week she has a bath and a hose down wen she has been rode.. she looks gr8 now and the lumps have gone, give this a try i really hope it works for you .

Good Look!!

Thanks i'll give it a try as i thought heat rash but he isn't broken yet so he doesnt do any work also even on colder days there doesn't seem to be any improvement. he lives out so it can't be an allergy to bedding or hay.
also there are no flowering plants as such in the field or hedges! i was thinking about trying aloe vera cream/gel. any thoughts??

A horse at my yard gets these every summer, it has something to do with the sweat glands getting blocked or something, the vet just tells us to wash them in hibiscrub everyday, and it actually works they usually go down within a week. Just make sure you really wash all the sweat off whenever they are sweaty as that seems to control them coming back.

One of my horses has 3 of this kind of lump on her back. I have tried all creams and ptions known to mankind spent lots of money and the lumps are still there. You can prod push and bash them and get absolutely no reaction, so i have just left them alone they bother me more than the horse. Save your money and just wash the horse with hibi-scrub that seems to work as well as anything.
