has anyone used it? did you think it worked? was it worth the price? does anyone use a cheaper alternative with the same effects?(feeding what is in this supplement rather than buying it(if that makes sense:confused:))

this is what it consists of;

Humulus lupulus, Passiflora incarnata, Magnesium Oxide, Grass (high temperature dried),
Calcium carbonate, White mineral oil, Magnesium chloride, Brewers’ Yeast, Oligofructose (dried),
Fenugreek seed.

and if anyone does feed these are they easy to get hold of and work out cheaper than the naf stuff?

sorry about all the questions and me sounding like a tight git but i've been recommended it but looking at the price i think my grandpa would actually pop his clogs and then i'd be done for lol :D

ETA: i've seen a lot of people talking about feeding brewers yeast and magnesium, what are the purposes of them? are they the same principle of naf magic powder?

You can buy most of those ingredients from somewhere like Barefoot Basics for a fraction of the cost and they will last much longer, plus those ready made supplements (like the NAF one) rarely actually contain very much of the required active ingredients.

I fed my old tarty mare NAF Oestress for one month and then someone on here suggested feeding the active ingredient, Agnus Castus. The NAF stuff had a limited effect but feeding the pure plant made a huge difference.

I don't know what the first two on your list are - they look like some sort of plant. You can buy MagOx on its own, same with Brewer's Yeast and fenugreek. I would guess if you supplemented with CalMag then that might have a similar effect to feeding MagOx and calcium carbonate...prepared to be told I'm wrong on that count though. I think calcium carbonate is the stuff you get in indigestion soothing remedies... I'm not sure why they have included grass in the NAF supplement, other than to make it more palatable maybe. I *think* oligofructose is basically a food for the "good bacteria" in the gut, so a prebiotic.

I feed MagOx straight and find it has a slight calming effect. I believe Brewer's Yeast is supposed to as well, though I can't say my horse is any calmer for having the latter.

i wondered about the content too how much they put in cos they can be tight b****** with stuff like that :(

i might just try her on the magnesium fenegreek seeds calcium and brewers yeast see how that goes.

i think your right with the calcium carbonate, its a bit like chalk. i remember when my mum was pregnant she took some nasty tablets like that for indegestion :rolleyes:

just googled the first 2, Humulus lupulus, Passiflora incarnata, they are actually hops and passion flower. definitely thinking of getting them separately now
