We use tempralax for shows and it seems to take the edge off....could be pyschological, but hey it seems to work for whatever reason. Was wondering whether we may as well switch to Magic and give it to him regularly especially as the show/rally season comes up.

I had got the impression that it is more or less the same stuff just one is a sort of 'quick hit' and the other a longer term thing? Any ideas?

Magic is a magnesium based calmer, that theoretically, should only work on horses that have a mag deficiency, but alot of people see a big difference on it.

I give tempralax a big thumb up....I know of people that gives Magic as every day supplement and swears by it....Every horse is different and you got to find what works for yours !!! Global Herbs also got Super Calm which i tried and its great as well !!
When i started to give mine calmers i first looked into the daily diet and removed all heated feed ie Sugar beet and swapped to HI-FI.mine used to EXPLODE at shows but with Tempralax and changed diet he was actually "Manageable" at shows

I had my horse on Magic for a year and it didn't seem to make much difference. I haven't tried any other type of calmer but may try one for shows only as he is heaps worse then. I can live with his behaviour at home but not at shows.

I used Tempralax for separation anxiety and it seemed to do the trick though I often wonder whether it was just the extra amount of input he had from me as I was worried about him that turned things around!
