NAF Magic- Liquid Vs. Powder?

Currently the boy is on the liquid but that seems to be a short term calmer (from what they say) so thinking of changing him to the powder??

Does anyone else have experience of this? Which is better??? Which is more cost effective??!

A different supplement! I dont know about the liquid one but the main ingredient in the powder is calcined magnesite, a very cheap ingredient fed to cattle. There are other forms of magnesium that are more readily digested by horses and you arent paying a huge percentage for the advertising! NAF magic has to be one of the most over priced supplements available!

Magnesium will only help if your horse is deficient in it anyway. So if you are going to try it it would be better to get a more bio-available source, such as magnesium oxide. Magnesium fumerate is also better but more expensive than mag ox. Read some labels!

He's already on Mag-Ox, I feed it because it contains other calming herbs such as StJohn's Wort and Kava Kava.

What would you advise then as a cost effective calmer, in addition to mag-ox (which has done amazing things for his hooves!)

Nupa-feed magnesium calmer is very good!
James Hart Solutions have amazing herbal calmers; mellow, listen and learn and V-calm (although the latter contains valerian which is banned under fei etc)
Used both makes successfully, but the herbal ones will have an effect even if your horse isn't deficient in mag which is good!

i used both on my horse , started on the liquid for the loading dose then switched over to the powder , lasted about 2/3 weeks a box.

i found it to be very good and calmed my boy right down.
i have also heard that nupa-feed is very very good but the cost was abit too much for me to fork out in one go
