bought some today for this hyper horse im riding at the weekend and now found my dressage is at 9.22am so need to give it her early. Has anyone used it am interested in anyone elses experiences please
Yes we use it with good effects although not sure if you might have needed to start it sooner. We do it 2 days before at the normal dose, twice a day, then the day before a double dose twice a day with a double dose in the morning and then one about an hour before she gets on. It does mean getting up early and this horse also has Blue Chip Karma everyday as well but is SO rideable!
Hiya!
We used to use it on the Dressage horses and give it 2 hours before, even if it meant pulling the lorry over and giving it en route! It worked fine on a very spooky horse, but don't know if it will make her less hyper!
Have you tried Equine America So Kalm? That might do the trick as it made Axey less hyper last time I used it.
I have Valerian calmer too but you wouldn't be allowed to use that.
Sam x
No thats great. If i start today it should work as you have said. We go on sunday so hopefully it should be fine, She is like an excitable child! Im used to my laid back warm blood. The things we do eh?? for a ride when your horse is off.
She is a fab horse but takes soooooo long to calm at home and is even worse at events. Fingers crossed
We shall see and i will post the outcome of it.Really it is only while I do her dressage as shes very excitable and takes ages to chill. Only been riding her a few days and all she has done since last year is hack out. Anyway in for a penny, I love the challange!
Sorry, didnt work for my boy either. Used it 2 days before hand etc.... I wanted to use it to keep him calmer on the box, he loves to paw the whole journey and does not relax on his own..he still pawed and was not any calmer. Having said that the girl at our yard who recommended it, it worked a treat on her horses...
I think its better for nervous horses, stopped mine neighing her head off and helped a bit with the spooking but dont' know if it would settle a fizzy horse. So Calm past might be better for that.
I found it fantastic, it was brilliant on Sunny who can be a total nutter without it. The first time I used it I gave 50ml 24hrs before and then 50ml 1 1/2 hrs before I got on (I think, its whatever the recommended dose is!), that definatly seemed to work and since then I have been gradually weaning her off it.
