I was just 'exploring' the trade stand list for Badminton and wondering what to spend my next lottery win on;).

A thought occurred to me that, generally (and not just at Badminton but all over the place), a lot of equine stuff seems to have hit the 'prestige' brands market that I think looks rather, well, I don't want to say it, but I wouldn't wear it or buy it.

There's a company that does jackets and boots that has the same name as my horse (sadly now playing with the unicorns) and I got all excited when I saw it. But seriously, faux crocodile patent boots? Then there were the diamante-encrusted tendon boots that I thought even VMT would think twice about using on a promo outing. Or what about the £296 browband with real gems? When would you use it?

There are some things that are, of course, absolutely beautiful and I will arm myself with a made to fit Prestige dressage saddle (if it fits my currently fictitious new horse) and a custom monoflap for jumping...when I win the lottery. I might even get my hands on a pair of the new Ariat boots, too.

Each unto their own, I suppose. Which of these prestigious brands do you aspire to?

If money were no object I would have everything custom made or bespoke tailored.

I don't do labels and refuse to wear advertising.

I have no problem with labels and tasteful bling, but I wouldn't wear something with the brand on it in large letters. And if I were to buy a crystal browband I'd spend a fair amount of money on it, because the cheap ones look just that.

Are you allowed to say what these brands actually are?

I suppose I don't aspire to much because I don't have endless cash and so I don't really look at these things, but I do like 'nice' brands. Although I'd love some Pikeur breeches and show wear, and an Otto Schumacher dressage bridle for my horse. And some Veredus boots, although I'm happy with Eskadron ones.
