Hi
Well i am feeling angry and worried at the same time.
6am this morning i took what seemed like a perfectly sound horse into her stable with hay and water to keep her going until the farrier turned up at 11.45.
I asked yard owner to take her out of stable for farrier then turn her out when he was done. She turned her out and off trotted a lame horse!

So YO went down and said to farrier and told him, and he said, oh...... well i thought she had a bit of lammi anyway! (she is a recvering lammi from when she was out on loan last year)
But as far as i have been aware, my nice trim horse who is fed laminaze everyday is and has been sound. he said almost as an afterthought that she had a little lammi.
Its the first time i have not been present, and i tell you, not again. Now, last time he did her she walked off lame but i was there so told him and he re-did shoe and she walked away fine.
Well the vet was coming tonight to do her jabs so got her to check her over and told her the story. She suspected it was more likely to be farrier.
So i am angry and worried, seren is now stabled till monday by which time vet hopes she will be better, so we shall see.
I do suspect its the farrier and not lammi, but you just never know i spose.
So what do you think? given the back ground story. opinions greatly appreciated

Now its the weekend, the one time i usually get to ride and i have a poor lame horse

Would like to think its the farrier. Having said that, 3 horses local to me have gone down with lami this week for the first time.

I have been away for 2 days. Got my horses in this morning and nolticed that my mare was 'footie'. She was also crestie and very fat and I think borderline lami. I couldnt find the digital pulse but have taken immediate action just in case.

I truely hope its your farrier, but take steps anyway x

Well i have called the farrier 3 times today and have been trying to get him to come out and am rather annoyed he has not responded, i left 3 messages and text him, so he better ring tomorrow as i still think its the shoe, she was sound as a pound when i put her in the stable that morning with hay until farrier arrived. She is in great shape weight wise and is fed laminaze 5* daily, but syaing that you just never know, but i a still thinking it was him, i just hpoe he calls back tomorrow, otherwise i may ask someone else for their farrier to come out and take the shoe off.
hope your mare is ok Llwyncwn x

I've found Mr D has gone sore/a little lame after a farrier visit- normally I turn him out and leave him 24/48 hours and re-check him. This has happened twice now and it has settled down in a day or so.
Hope she comes right soon
