So penny was shod week friday, she slammed a foot down while farrier trying to nail it on, he pulled bent nail out , thought it had only got bent on yard, no such luck ... It had pricked the sensitive part of hoof wall, she went lame Thursday, shoe off Friday, tubbed it for two days, and got vet in today and farrier, there is a nail prick there, parred it back and poultices till it breaks through. Glad I got the vet though cos she had strong digital pulse on that foot so it was brewing. Farrier coming again Monday to see if it's ready to pop. She has a thin sole so we have to be patient, can't par too much off. So antibiotic for 5 days, and I did my first hoof poultice today, not bad effort, let's hope she keeps foot boot on overnight. Horses have cost me 300 so far this month, good job I've done bit of overtime at work.
Just one of those unfortunate things, she is a mare to shoe at the best and has to have bute before and after due to Spavins on hocks .
