Nail / String Test?

I vagely remember a test being mentioned in the posts pre Troy's birth that said he would be a boy. But what I am wondering is how to do the test (as I missed the intructions bit) and at what time before birth. My mare is due four weeks today

and I'm begining to wonder what I might get *fingers and toes crossed that all goes well*
 
You're probably better using a wedding band instead of the nail - the nail is more difficult to describe to you LOL!!

You can try it at any time. Tie the ring to a piece of string, hold over the mare's pelvis and if it swings in a circle then it is supposed to be a filly, if it swings back and forth along the spine then it is supposed to be a colt.
 
I've had four children and I did the test on all mine, 3 boys then a girl. It was correct every time. Did it to a friend of mine and it went both ways, she had twins boy and girl... good luck....... Pic of my last little sweetie now rising two..
