Naive question re: full loan

Hi everyone

Excuse the somewhat naive question but I am considering taking on a full loan WVTB. Never done this before. Is it possible to find a sharer a couple of days per week in this scenario is it frowned upon?

You would need to ask the owner of the horse you're planning to loan and eventually buy. Once bought, you can do what you like of course. But I think as the owner I'd be wondering why you need a sharer straight away.

Thanks for your reply. I'm simply playing with scenarios, for example, if I was away or unwell for example.

I think if you were to have a full time sharer (couple of days a week) then I’d talk to the owner, but if it’s just a case of having somebody who might help you out on the odd occasion when you’re away or whatever then that would be fine. (In my eyes anyway!)

From a sellers point, I’m viewing you just as much as you’re viewing the horse.
I have in the past refused to sell to someone I didn’t think suitable.

If the horse still belonged to me in a loan situation I would expect the same opportunity to decide who provides its care.

Also if you found one during the loan period and then decided not to complete the sale your sharer would suddenly be horseless too.

Personally I’d wait until you’ve purchased the horse, otherwise it might get a bit messy.

I'd wait until you own and also until you know the horse quite well, how can you give info to a prospective sharer about the horses quirks, how to ride them effectively, what to look out for in terms of horses health etc. if you don't even know yourself.

Also never rely on having a sharer in your budgeting (both in terms of time and money).
