We are collecting our second flatcoat puppy on Sat - already have one called Tarn and another dog called Murphy.

We have sort of come to an agreement on the name Tallie (it's a boy) - is this a girl's name? I like Quincy but OH doesn't, he likes Casper but I don't!

To keep with the Lake District theme of Tarn, I came up with Mere and I think they go really well together, but think Mere is a girl's name too. Also liked Darcy (girl again?)

You might see a pattern here - we have better girl's names than boys but ended up with a boy! Although I also like Milo and Teilo (Welsh).

Help please (and new suggestions welcome!) he's coming on Sat and has no name (want a name suitable for a gundog, preferably with 2 syllables).

I don't think Mere is a girls name, think its kind of unisex (is that correct, where it applies to both sexes....??)

Darcy is either as well (Mr Darcy for example?!)

Tallie is a girls name!

I know it might be more of a collie name, but I nearly named Beau.. Jet (because of him beign so black....)

I like Charlie, but every other dog is called Charlie isn't it.... I like Jack too! (Wow Im really boring with names aren't i!)

Boris is mint too!

I like Rufus, but it means 'red-haired' so I would save that for a liver dog. In fact I came up with a few suitable for liver (think Bracken goes with liver too), but we're getting a black dog. If he turns out anything like Tarn, he'll be more 'Doofus' than 'Rufus', lol

How about Brother, after Brothers Water? Okay, that's pretty terrible, but if you want to keep with the Lakes theme, how about:

Kendal (or Kenneth

)
Rydal
Derwent

I think the best dog name ever is Steve, but I also like Herman, Digby, Linus and Hudson.

My Mum's dog is called Dubh (pronouced Doo) which mean Black in Gaelic.
Although, he is working he gets called Dooby, and no one can pronouce it when it is written either

I actually like your name Darcy for him...... thinking about it!

He looks like my puppy (ok border collie but this is relevant!) in that he is a cute little fluff ball, but when he grew up a bit all his fluff has gone really sleek and shiny!

That to me says Mr Darcy
