hi I have a 9 month old section d filly that is stabled 24hr with no turnout. she has been very bored and I have managed to get her in a barn during the day with some others horses as up until she has been completely on her own. at the end of march the others will be turned out and their is no room for her so I will need to think about moving her. The yard that I want to end up at will not take on any others horses until well into the spring so I could be looking at May. I'm in the middle of building a stable in the garden it will be 12x10 and have a small bark turnout area so I can leave stable door open in the day for her to have a bit of room to move about. my question is do you think I should try and find a companion for her short term. I have been offered a sec a type she is 2 but very naughty so not great or a Shetland I think is 4 I haven't seen him yet. or do I look for something older or leave her on her own. I'm short for space so would need to be small. what's everyone's thoughts? just wanted to add I never planned to take this foal on she came to me and I'm trying to do what's best for her. I've managed to get her condition back she was riddled with worms and very lame but looks to be so much happier with the physio she having.

I have a mini shetland from a charity who has been a super little nanny to two foals so far. I found her great as she takes up so little space, so sharing stables is easy and she is cheap and easy to keep generally. she is also bombproof so has taught the foals that nothing in life is worth stressing over! they are great little foal companions especially in limited spaces
