Nappies for poulticing?

Yes they're great for keeping poultices on. My Mum & I went to buy some at the chemist and were debating the size, when the assistant comes over and asks - what age is the baby?! We had to confess what we were going to use them for and she looked at us in total disbelief! Anyway long story short we bought some for newborns which fit both my 15.2hh & 16.2hh TB's feet perfectly. Probably best to measure your horse's feet length and width ways and take a tape measure with you when you go to buy...........and be prepared for some very strange looks!!

The cheap ones are sometimes better because the tabs stick to any part of the nappy so fix easier. The expensive ones seem to have strips to fasten which only stick to each other. I only have experience of nappies for horses so not an expert, so I could be wrong.

They are brilliant for wounds, because they dont cause it to sweat, so can protect and keep clean but also let the air to the wound.

I always have a pack handy. :)

Can't remember what size, but we use them - we buy nappies for the horse's feet and nappy sacks for dog poo bags, but don't have any children!

I just bought the supermarket own brand ones (Newborn I think) & did the trick - just prayed I didn't bump into anyone from work in the supermarket! The vet recommended them & made it look so easy to put on...............

Last time I got them I met a pupil and parent.....their eyes met mine on the nappies..... That started a rumour!

I use them, I am a bit a cack-handed so find them a lot easier and cheaper than gamgee,
I think I use 3-6 months on my horses.

And if you use your clubcard when you pay you will be invited shortly afterwards to join Tescos Mother & Baby club! Oops!

Lol this thread has been funny! Pity nappies don't come in a variety size pack for us horse owners. Looking forward to nappy shopping now to see what weird reaction I get when looking for ones to suit a 14.1, a 16.2 and large hooved 17.1hh

Dont forget to do a dry one then a wet one . I assume its for a hoof abscess ?
Otherwise the hoof will get very soggy , even with a nappy ( to draw moisture from baby's bottom )! Only a nappy until no pus is showing . If another one is put on then it will start to pull blood through , not what you want !
