Hi all,

I bought my daughter a wonderful 12.2 pony 3 weeks ago as a confidence builder!
The pony is a little star, very sweet will be groomed for ages etc and when ridden alone my daugther can do everything with her all on her own and she doesnt put a foot wrong!

As soon as we hack out in company she is not naughty just very nappy! She will just follow the other pony to the point of throwing her head about and really fussing if my daughter tries to get her to go somewhere else!

My daughter wants to show her this season but i am worried she wont be able to go in the ring with her or do anything alone as the pony will nap towards the others! my daughter gets very upset but wants to ride out with her friend too!

Any suggestions please????

What do you mean go somewhere else? Does your daughter try to leave the other horses on route? If so most horses would create at being asked to do that?
Can u get her to go at the front of the ride so she's not following?
What about going in a school with others but work independently so she's not just following the others?

My daughter was in the school with her friend and when my daughter wanted to do something with her pony at one end of the school it just went silly and tried to follow the other pony!

Just wasnt sure if there was a method of breaking the habit LOL

It's normally a battle of wills with napping an lots of positive riding. My mare used to be a napper we would sit up the top of the driveway for half an hour with her napping to leave the yard. If something spooked her on route she would glue to the spot  sometimes she would go backwards. It was easier if she went backwards as I could turn her around and make her walk backwards but in the direction I wanted :p.
Just lots of perserverane and positive riding. As soon as you get in the school work independently and lots of transtitions etc to keep her focused.
Good luck.
