My youngster has started to nap. Now i don't mean the occasional reluctance to go forward, I mean a virtual STOP and plant. He is 4 years old and has been ridden out in company for 4 months. The first time I took him out alone he was fine. Yesterday he planted and refused to move. I shouted, put him off balance to get some movement and gave him a smack with the whip - NOTHING. He was not scared, he had just decided that he would rather turn around now thank you very much and go home by the shortest route. Needless to say, I kept at it. I did get him around the block, I had to get off twice mind you and re-mount. He is a very ballsy type, bold and opinionated. He used to rear when I pushed him but now has realised that gets him nowhere so he just STOPS! Very frustrating. Anyone else experienced this?
