Nappy neddy

Wasn't nervous... Didn't hold onto him. Just let him roll on. Kept the leg on and we were doing so well until he decided enough was enough so he planted dead in front of a fence. Humped before standing on his hind legs and spinning round. Horrible pony! Took him back to the fence and did exactly the same thing. Que bell ring and i'm out the competition. Don't know what else to do with him? Everyone said i kept the leg on and it was pure naughtyness!

Did you try the smack on the bum thing? I know that with my mare, just keeping my leg on isn't enough sometimes. Has he stopped at that type of fence before or is it just purely random?

always make shure you jump anopther fence afterwards so he doesnlt think its the easy way to get out of the round! if they won't let you do some clear rounds so you can keep trying. sounds like naughtiness to me. also could ask to have fences v low so if he does plant then you can make him jump from a standstill so he realises he must go over, if he tries to spn make him turn the other way and keep moving toward the jump- sounds easy eh!!!!

Could be one of two things- pain related (most likely) or in the mind. Boss, my old horse, used to do a similar thing, he adored jumping but suddenly started to stop as he was coming round the corner. Vets couldnt find anything wrong but that doesnt mean there isnt anything physically wrong. Ive put Boss's down to his brain.
