Right, I have managed to narrow my search for a stallion down to five potentials!! They are:

Kings Composer - http://www.dalcotes.co.uk/pages/king.htm

Weld - http://www.langallerfarm.co.uk/indstallion.php?lngforsaleID=47

Prince of Darkness - http://www.langallerfarm.co.uk/indstallion.php?lngforsaleID=22

Bandmaster - http://www.sporthorsegb.co.uk/images/horses/Bandmaster.jpg

Relief Pitcher - stands at Vauterhill (sorry no picture)

This is the mare -

what do you think?!?

Ultimately I would be breeding to sell unless the foal was something really special - and something that could hopefully event. I guess its important to choose a "fashionable" stallion if selling???

The mare is only 15.2/15.3 so I would like to add some height (she tends to throw quite large foals anyway) and speed - hence I choosing a thoroughbred stallion.

I have come up with these 5 due to the distance I am willing to travel.

What do you think?? Has she any glaring problems in her confirmation (other than a weak neck) and don't be scared to tell it how it is!! i'd rather get some honest and frank opinions

I think that weld would suit her the best, not keen on the others as a cross for her. She is a lovely mare but needs more length of leg, a shorter back and a little refinement without loosing substance and I think that Weld would therfore compliment this perfectly....
King is too chunky, Bandmaster's not the right confo for her, Prince of Darkness is fairly nice but weld shines out

would you not use AI on her at all? At least then you would be able to have her somewhere local whilst using a stallion you may like from further afield.

One TB stallion that does AI is One More Tiger (http://greatbrockhamhurststud.co.uk/onemoretiger.htm) and then there is also the Louella TB stallions if you are definately wanting to go pure TB. There are quite a few nic HolstxTB or WB X TB stallions in the UK and abroad that would sut as an eventing sire.

Yeah I really like Weld aswell - the only thing I was worried about was whether his offspring would be saleable?? It seems he has an awful lot of offspring going racing and doing really well but not so many going eventing?

I would consider AI but I think I would prefer natural - I don't have an endless budget and was a bit worried about the costs of AI?? Although I haven't really explored this option..
Just looked at One More Tiger and he looks q nice although I do remember a thread on here before about him having a wonky leg??

Just looked at Louella site and really like criminal law..but he's limited to approved mares only.

The only other horse that really takes my eye is Rainbow High he doesn't have many offspring out and about ...

Dont really want to go to WB stallions as the mare is dutch warmblood x tb

I don't remember anything about he wonky leg myself and OMT has some very nice babies on the ground which are winning at county level.

Criminal Law is nice but the youngsters do tend to be on the sharp side.

From personal experience I've found AI to be not aways that much more expensive than natural because at end of day you have to get scans done, etc. anyway and if you have a good vet and easy mare then allshould be ok. OMT for example has a stud fee of I believe £400. That plus AI would come up to now more (approx) than you would be paying for Weld's £800 fee.

There are also othe TB event stallions standing such as Revolution (http://www.stallionsonline.co.uk/stallion_15914.html)
Weston Justice who is an Adv. eventer
http://www.westonstud.co.uk/page2.html
or the End House Stud boys

All of these boys are avilable AI and are cheaper than Weld's stud fee (although as the others have said, Weld is a fab boy!)

Sorry if I am confusing you further!

I have a homebred 2 yr old by Prince of Darkness. Really like him and half the stud fee of Weld. Weld is lovely though. Langaller a great stud, really nice.

These are all horses I've thought about using for Sienna, to produce a similar sort to what you are after.
I think Weld is the most beautiful (though he is over at the knee)
PoD is highly thought of by Charles UPham, but not sure he moves well enough for me. Seems to have some lovely stock on the ground tho'.
Love Relief Pitcher & he throws fantastic temperaments, plain heads apparently though....

Would you not think about Lostock Huntsman?
Don't think you can go far wrong at Langaller, they are lovely and mares are so well looked after. (you could always take her down and do a lucky dip...

Being over at the knee is not considered a flt unlike being behind the knee. Stick with a TB stallion that is shorter in the back then your mare, with longer legs as suggested by Ouija_Board. As for height look at a stallion that is known to throw bigger offspring, just because a stallion stands 16.2 does not mean he throws upto height. I have known 15.2 stallions who's breeding means their offspring from mares of 15.2+ have been bigger.

Your mare is very nice.To compliment her I would definately suggest something with a short back and more legs, however I have no idea about thourobred stallions. I have found it qwite hard to find a stallion wich has produced proven event horses, as horses are much older by the time they event, than a race horse would be. I have heard good reports about weston justice. Im on the same boat, im looking for something to produce an event horse with my mare, who also is a tad long in the back. So far I am leaning towards weston justice. Hes about 7 hour drive from me! I spoke to my vet(who have an excellent ai reputation& plenty experience) and they do a good package price for ai, so im keeping her at home and useing ai. Good Luck

I really like Bandmaster, having seen him in the flesh I really liked him but i wanted to put my mare with a warmblood so i chose Ramexico (also at Vauterhill). the service I received there was excellent, she was really looked after, and being a first time breeder they put themselves out to explain what would happen at every step. Livery is very reasonable. Also stud fee being No foal no fee is great.

I think if she were mine I would go for Weld, I reckon sooner or later his stock will start coming through the eventing scene and the offspring should be very saleable.
He stands just 6 miles from here so I have seen him quite a few times, he struck me as a very athletic type of a horse, and looking at your mare he would produce something really useful from her.
You really need to look at the stallions in the flesh, I would never pick one from a picture, and at least there are plenty to decide between at Langaller. I can also recommend them as people to deal with, our mares have always come back in foal, in good condition and they really know their stuff! (we don't use them anymore as we have our own stallion, so not promoting them for any benefit to me

Weld is AWESOME looking in the flesh - I thought I was looking at Whistlejacket reincarnated (just incase you have no idea what I'm on about, WJ is a famous portrait by George Stubbs). PofD is so not my cuppa tea, though Charles Upham really rates him. He is a heavier, old fashioned type, but IMO has terrible fore feet and limbs. Bandmaster, I have heard a lot of good things about him and his stock and the woman I bought my mare off had pencilled him in for her in the future. However, I don't like the way he is bred - I've never met a Dixieland Band horse that was a nice person - having said that, I have no personal experience of BM sotck... I know nothing about Relief Pitcher. Kings Composer is the sire of my 2yo - the foal in my sig and the yearling on the right. King was the BEF Champion sire last year and is renowned for producing correct, athletic horses. I've met quite a few of his stock now and they all seem very straight forward. My 2yo (homebred) has always been exceptionally bold and relatively easy. I have met more than one Shining Spirit and I am not at all keen on them, but that is just my opinion.

Weld is simply stunning. However, hot, hot, hot.

Prince of Darkness is very aptly named

No Submission (which stands at the same stud) is throwing some lovely offspring - we have one at the yard, and a friend has another. Super natures, although will probably sharp little monkeys.

Boss's suggestion of Shinning Spirit is a good one. Lovely, lovely horse. May be worth a look.
