Hello everyone :)

I would like you to help me. I am about to buy a Stübben dressage saddle, but I really need a narrow twisted saddle, because otherwise my back hurts really bad...

Could you tell me, which of these saddle are with the narrowest twist???
( sorry if I made some mistakes, I'm french :D :)

Thank you !

Erika

Hi Erika

Is it possible for you to get some advice about which saddle will suit your horse? You may not have much direct access to a saddle fitter but buying blind like this is really not such a good idea. Is there a reason it has to be Stubben? In my opinion they don't fit an awful lot of horses really well, but in your favour most do have narrow twists (they also have long tree points and these two things combined makes them not so good at fitting wide horses, you see the problem?)

And your English is great, WAY better than my French!

Thank you for your comment, it is really kind of you :)

Actually, I don't care if it is an other brand, the thing is that I need a narrow twist. My horse is not as wide as baroque friesians, he is a "sport" one.
So if you have any other suggestions than Stübben, please let me know :o

Thank you !

You need a good fitter who will help from a distance - the owner of my company is brilliant at fitting from photos and tracings (the shape of the wither) but it is a skill very few have. Please do private message me if you'd like more info, we don't specialise in dressage saddles but we do have a small range of them and are happy to make saddles on other trees etc to suit the horse.

Otherwise I would contact companies direct, sending them photos and perhaps a tracing, and see what they suggest and see how convinced you are by what they say :).

You are likely to need a moderate depth seat allowing for some wither, but with a Friesian you may need a wide flat seat ie the back of the saddle - Stubbens are not commonly that shape and are not what I'd look to first for a Friesian - they have very long tree points which are unsuitable for a well sprung ribcage even if the horse is no super wide. You will also need a flattish tree from front to back, again Stubben is not known for flat trees or panels. A very narrow twist may be expecting too much with a flattich backed horse, but you should be able to get a medium twist, I know our deeper seated dressage tree has a neat twist and can fit even extra wide horses.

Sorry to use some technical terms, hope you can follow what I say with the aid of Google translator :D

I understood everything ! A local saddler will come next week to try a few saddles on my horse, and if he can't convince me, I will contact you in private message.

Thank you soo much :):)
