Now i love dogs, and i ride with my friends dog almost everyday. But there is some silly dog owners who dont put there dogs on leads at the sight of horses (i can understand if they cant actually see the horse due to a blind corner ect.) and or cant control their dog. I think that all dogs should stay on a lead when in busy or frequently used areas until they are properly trained and will listen to there owner when called for. Because there has been countless times when i have to stop the horse when a dog has ran at me barking running around his legs, it really is just as well my boy is a gem with dogs whether there running under his legs or barking in his face. but im sure that there are alot of horses that wouldnt tolerate this and try kick the dog. Im also glad i haven't had a problem with any vicious dogs, but i know riders who have. Its not for the horses safety but for the dogs too. unfortunatley there is a few dodgy people in my area that just dont care. Does anyone else have the same problem?

Not nice :( I fully agree that unless they can control their dogs then they should be on a lead. There was a story a while ago of a poor pony who was set upon by dogs in it's own stable :( Bit off the point but dogs need to be controlled around horses and ponies.:)

Some people can be horrible!! its aweful what people can do to dogs and what they can make them do. For a bit 'fun'. my friend was out on her horse a few years ago when out of the blue a dog attacked the horse, and she had to lead horse back home with a broken nose, horrible.
