:( He very rarely lives up to his name, but something really spooked Shy while were gently plodding along. He veered round sharply, I had no chance, but was determined not to let go in case he ran off madly, so got dragged thru a barley field.

Bless him, it was totally not his fault, and all I could do was hug him and tell him that as he was frightened. Got on further down the field again, and all fine.

Got home and realised that it was bad, my back is very sore at my discs, my shoulder's sore, the finger where I held the reins (yup one finger) is swollen, I'm lucky I didn't break it, and I have scarring on my face. I think I was in shock - just sat there bawling.

Feel a desperate need to go back to the boy and really pamper him - what's that all about?

sorry, just in shock, but one of those things when you ride *sigh*. sm x

So sorry to hear about your fall. Im sure it is a one off and very bad luck.
Im currently unable to do much other than sit at computer coz my girlie bucked me off. Got bruised ribs etc which i have to say is complete agony.
Did your boy get all sad after coz my girlie did she wouldent leave me alone after. Think she shocked herself a bit as shes only a baby.
Heres to a speedy recovery just wish i was a bit younger and bounced a bit better!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear you are in the wars too.

Yes Shy seemed very upset about it, he seems to hate it when I come off. He's only a baby too, so it's to be expected, but it happens so quickly doesn't it. I'm still weepy despite lots of sweet tea (!). Sometimes the reality check makes you realise just how vulnerable you are, especially riding alone (which I have no choice but to do).

I hope you ribs ease up soon, sm xxx

Oh heckers, hope your going to be ok, if you feel sore now, I guarantee you will do even more so in a few days, maybe it might be a good idea to go and get yourself checked out?

Gosh, poor you and poor Shy. Go get checked out, backs aren't worth the risk, even if its just to put your mind at rest and get some effective pain killers.

Then go give Shy a huge hug, although he's probably over it by now, munching happily while you sit at home feeling rubbish and worrying about him!

I think I will go and get it checked, as I have an old back injury.

I agree, Shy will be blissfully nibbling in his paddock with his best mate ( mini shetland), and if I turn up and blubber all over him it'll cramp his style :D. Still, he's getting a shampoo and set later, which he loves!

I love how upset mine gets whenever i fall off, once i fell off and broke my shoulder, she was so careful round me for the weeks it was in a sling. She avoided that whole half of my body and didnt nudge it once. ( She was also a baby at the time, do you think they all do that?) I hope you feel better soon backs are awful to hurt! -hugs-

Ooooouch. Sounds painful! Would get checked out, particularly if your back is bad, and I'd hit A&E for the painkillers anyway, better than shop boughts.

But the baby is just the cutest thing everrrrr so he's worth it ;) xxx

Ouchie, poor you! I am sure it was a one off and poor Shy was as surprised as you. These things happen but that doesn't help much when you are sitting there covered in bruises! Ditto getting it checked out just to be on the safe side.

Agree with Booboos....definately go and get yourself checked over, that in itself will make you feel a bit better, sounds as though you were both as shocked each other!! that's what the bawling is about it's natural to cry when you are shocked, he will be fine and so will you, give yourself a hug and then go and give him one.

Definately get checked over just to confirm what you have done. Plenty rest, painkillers and warm drinks in order I think. My daughter is still recovering from an over the head somersault last Thursday from her gelding who is normally one of the most laid back boys on the planet. She didn't want to get checked out but having dragged her there, she has a whiplash type injury and has damaged her muscles in her neck/back and shoulders and is still very sore now a week later. Off you go!! :)

been, and no serious damage, nothing rest and tlc (from hubs :D) won't cure ! Weepy most of the day, on and off - thinking about how much worse it could have been and all that, but at least I always have my mobile phone with me.

gave Shy a lovely bath and bought him a new garlic field lick and some extra strong fly repellant - the flies are just mad down at the field atm, remind me almost of what they were like in Oz, eeeeeeeek ! Citronella just wasn't cutting it.

Glad you got checked out. Hope Shy enjoyed the bath, and the new field lick!!!!

Now, put your feet up!!!!!
