What I heard this morning was that some US press articles had printed she was dead/brain dead but in fact this was not true. I don't think anything is known for sure yet. I just hope for everyone involved she is ok.
 
Very sad and scary for her and her family but I'm not sure I'd trust the papers for accurate medical information.

But if you read any of the threads in CR about Rosie - where her own grandmother is reporting in - you can see how off the mark the papers can be. Amazing how they can create a whole story with no actual first hand information.

I understand she's been moved to a US hospital (ah, the triumph of private medicine, I'd guess) which I don't think they would have done if she was in imminent danger of dying.
 
I was about to reply in much the same vein.

I wish her well. She comes from fighting stock. Her uncle (Corin Redgrave) has made a fine recovery after a heart attack and quite a long time in intensive care. He's now acting again on the London stage.
 
I hope she comes out of it.

It must have been one heck of a fall to cause her to go bad this quickly

I presummed that she had a bleed in her head from the fall which caused swelling of the brain... which could have been the heahaches.
 


I know brain injuries can be pretty catastrophic, but I always remember a kid I reported on who fell off a petrol go-cart at speed with no helmet and it was pretty much curtains for him, but he pulled through after being in critical for weeks and lives a pretty normal life.

I really, really hope she pulls through.

Poor her, poor husband and kids. What an awful shock.

Goes to show the seriousness of head injuries though. By all accounts the fall was minor, she was up and joking immediately afterwards, was checked out and left the scene apparently unhurt. Perhaps a cautionary tale for horse people, who often dismiss bangs on the head as nothing to be concerned about and a warning that even people who seem fine after the fact bear watching for awhile.

Very sad.
 
A tragic reminder of how fragile the head is. I've never forgotten a similar fatality which happened over 30 years ago. The younger brother of a dear friend was a keen rugby player. He's taken a knock during a Saturday afternoon match but seemed to be ok. His girlfriend woke up the next morning to find he'd died in his sleep because of a blood clot in his brain.
