Fairly specialised, but has anyone tried buying a Nathe bit lately? My horse will only go in one of these for jumping, as they are very soft, flexible and bendy - or at least they were. I've had to send two back (fortunately got my money back) that I ordered, as they are now hard, inflexible and not really any different from your common or garden rubber bit or Happy Mouth.

Does anyone else find this and/or know where to get the soft, flexible ones now?

Unless they've changed dramatically, I was looking at some last year at Scope and they definitely had some soft, flexible ones. Can you give them a call, or one of the bit banks maybe, to discuss and get some advice?

I bought one in march / April time and it was the usual soft bendy one.

Maybe they now do 2 styles??

Where have you tried to purchase from?

How about a sprenger duo? I have one and they are definitely sort and flexible, although not as soft as I thought nathes were?

Got one second hand off ebay (I know, I know), tried it and horse was obviously uncomfortable in it, returned it. Got another from Equiport (excellent service, superfast next day delivery but even they said customers were reporting a difference in Nathe bits and they thought this was one of the older ones with more flex - didn't need to try it on the horse - it doesn't even flex in my hands).

Its a Pelham and the horse will literally only jump in a Nathe Pelham, nothing else. Am attempting to phone both the Horse Bit Bank and the Horse Bit Shop, no answer from either.

I have a 10 year old one and guard it most carefully! It's a straight bar full cheek snaffle and literally everything goes well in it.
Was thinking of ordering a new one as mine is a little small for new horse but this thread has worried me!

Just to say my very "sensitive" mare is very happy in the Beris pelham I got for her. I got the soft version of the ported pelham, she was previously in a rubber covered ported pelham but is definitely happier in the Beris.
