Hi, the vets advised me today to get natural balance shoes as my boy has very flat heels and she thinks this is whats causing him to be lame on stoney ground, he's had X-rays today and there's nothing else wrong.
Does anyone know how long it will take for an improvement to be seen and is there anything else I can do to help him?

Not sure about your horse, but mine had pedal rotation in both fronts and went from borderline pts crippled in heartbars to virtually sound, or at least instantly very comfortable, in NB shoes..

Thumbs up for me for my experience with that one horse.. My other 7 have never been shod.. Age range 2yo to 18yo..

The vet doesn't think there is any other damage although if he doesn't improve then they may send him for a bone scan. I called my farrier tonight and he's being re shod in the natural balance shoes next week, so fingers crossed.

My horse had them with equi-pak to correct foot balance issue, for her there was an immediate change for the better in her way of going and also she needed a lot less chiro work going forward.

Mine also had NB from age 5 with the same farrier.. It's only when he moved away and I had to use others that my horse's feet became irreparably damaged..

He came back 18 months ago and commuted from Brighton to Leicestershire then to Devon to look after my lad..

Excellent farrier coupled with NB shoes were always the best choice for my lad..

I wish you and yours all the best and hope you see a significant improvement..
