Hi, Does anyone know of a farrier in the South Yorks area (i am willing to travel for right farrier) who can help with my naughty boy. He has just had his shoes off as his behaviour is getting worse and worse when being shod. I am 99% sure it not pain related and he hasn't had a bad experience, think he has just learnt that if he throws himself around there is not much anyone can do. I want someone who uses non violent tactics to make him realise its really not that bad! He lets me pick his feet up fine but when you try to do anything other than pick them out he just stamps his foot down or does mini rears till he gets it back. I would keep him barefoot but I will be looking to sell him in the future and would rather he be able to be shod if wanted. Thanks

Sorry just realised terrible spelling on title! Should read horsemanship! doh!

Sarah Braithwaite practaces NH and trims feet I think (see bare foot trimmer lol)

You could get his behaviour better with someone like that and if he does need shoes on then decide what to do / if you trust him enough !

Why is he like this has he had a bad experiance ?

I'd get a good horse trainer (natural or just non-violent, up to you) to help you to sort his behavioural problems out, and just a patient and non-violent farrier to trim or shoe him.
